General Questions about Crossover Australia
What kind of projects will be created by Crossover Australia? Are we talking games, web sites, or what?
It's likely that one or more of the projects will be web-based and possible that some projects will resemble games, or at least be structured like games. But our guess is that the projects that emerge from Crossover Australia will vary wildly in their final presentation.
Although we will eventually have to focus on what's "doable," right now we aren't placing any limitationsin terms of platforms, devices or technologies. Our only criteria are that projects engage multiple participants in an immersive, interactive, participatory experience. The project creator will structure the experience, and the participants will enliven it.
What will I get out of participating in Crossover Australia?
The aim of Crossover Australia is to imagine how relationships across the sectors can expand the possibilities and boundaries of interactivity. The team of participants will be selected to maximise the possibility of information sharing.
How did the idea of Crossover Australia come about?
Crossover Australia is part of the South Australian Film Corporation's strategy to develop compelling digital and interactive projects. The 2003 Adelaide Film Festival included the first Crossover Australia in its program and AFFand the AIDC worked with the SAFC to provide some of the international participants/mentors who were guests of those events. Crossover Australia 2003 was directly inspired by Crossover in the US, organised by Web Lab. For more information regarding Web Lab go to www.weblab.org
In 2007 the AFF co-presentedCrossover as part of its broader program of actively exploring the opportunities and implications of the digital era
Who will own the projects that get developed through Crossover Australia?
The Producers will own their own projects.
