Matt Adams from the brilliant Blast Theory has been confirmed as the final mentor for Crossover 2007. He and the five other mentors will be working with the 20 participants who have been confirmed for the 5-day interactive, residential workshop in McLaren Vale, designed to brainstorm cross-platform models and projects.
Matt Adams is the co founder of Blast Theory, a group renowned for its multidisciplinary approach pioneering the use of new technologies within performance contexts. The group's work has recently focused on mixed reality, location based games and mobile devices to inspire audiences to question their social relationships.
Since 1997, Blast Theory has collaborated with the Mixed Reality Laboratory at the University of Nottingham. Works such as Desert Rain, Can You See Me Now? and Uncle Roy All around You have been nominated for four Interactive Arts BAFTA Awards. Can You See Me Now? won the Golden Nica for Interactive Art at Prix Ars Electronica 2003.
Blast Theory has also shown interactive and screen based works in galleries such as Tate online, Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, Museum of Installation in London and National Fine Art Museum in Taiwan.
Matt joins the other Crossover mentors - Leader, Frank Boyd, former Director of Creative Development with the BBC's Innovation and Learning Team, currently working with Creative London; Robert Thirkell, TV troubleshooter and BAFTA winning producer including Jamie's School Dinners; Marc Goodchild, TV producer turned cross-media evangelist, named one of Broadcast Magazine's top 100 movers and shakers for his pioneering work bringing interactivity into the mainstream of factual programming at the BBC; Paula Le Dieu, Managing Director of Magic Lantern Productions - a company known for creating innovative interactive media including rich media websites, mobile games, digital video and DVD; and Heather Croall, director of the Sheffield International Documentary Conference, and producer of documentaries and cross platform projects for ABC, SBS and Channel 4.
